The land of the
evening star.
Vesperia is a word from Roman mythology meaning “the land of the evening star” — a name originally proposed for our country, Canada. We took it because it sounded like the kind of place where the interesting things happen after dark.
It started at an awards show in Vancouver.
Dakota Daulby and Harrison Houde met, found out they were chasing the same thing, and started making shorts
together almost immediately.
The early days were held together with borrowed favors, questionable motel rooms, and a few locations they probably shouldn’t have been shooting in. They didn’t have budgets. They had nerve, a camera, and talented friends generous enough to say yes.
Somewhere around 4am in a diner booth, they made it official — a pact to spend their entire careers making unique, uncompromising, empowering stories.
They’re still doing exactly that. Their debut feature, Tight Lettuce, arrives in 2026, with a full slate behind it. These days there are real budgets, actual permits, and a bigger team of friends — but the vision hasn’t changed.
Since that first short, they’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with countless talented producers, directors, cinematographers, editors, managers, and crews.
They’re looking forward to what’s next.
